About us
Established 1996 and based in Surrey, UK, SURREY DANCE MUSIC is a small but friendly company providing music to teachers of theatre dance.
Our highly acclaimed range of quality cassettes and CDs for teachers of ballet, modern, contemporary, stage, theatrecraft, tap, jazz and so on is ideal for classes, festivals, examinations and shows.
Around 30 - 60 minutes in length, each compilation has pieces in various styles, lengths, tempi and time-signatures, all written with the dance teacher in mind, and all have been recorded using the latest in music technology.

Finding the right cd
When you've got hundreds of CDs in a rack or case, how do you pick out a tap CD quickly? Easy! - our compilations are all colour-coded, where:
- Ballet = pink
- Contemporary = orange
- Modern = light blue
- Stage = yellow
- Tap = red
- Festival = multicoloured
so look for a CD with a red spine to find one of our Tap CDs ...
Finding the right piece of music
We realise that it's not always easy to find the right piece of music instantly, and we have tried to help in this quest by putting relevant information onto the CD inlays. Things like time-signature, length, and if we think it'll help, an idea of the tempo or the instrumentation or a brief description of the piece. Not too much information to take in, just what we think will help you find the piece of music you're looking for. Also, where relevant, we've tried to group the pieces into what we consider to be their best suitability - whether by age group or whether we think the piece most suited to a solo, duet or group piece, for example.
Price
We realise that it is a risk for any dance teacher to purchase music they haven't heard, and for this reason we try to keep our prices to a minimum. We're delighted to say that the vast majority of our customers come back to us time and time again.

Surrey Dance Music are regular sponsors of the Surrey Dance Festival. Always a well organised event with a high standard of dance and a good local reputation, the Surrey Dance Festival is held annually at the Epsom Playhouse in July.
